The Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited applications for the prestigious position of Chairperson, Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC).

The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. 158 for appointment on a re-employment/contract basis. The position carries Pay Level 17 of the 7th Central Pay Commission and a fixed remuneration of ₹2,25,000 per month.

About Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC)

The Recruitment & Assessment Centre (RAC) is the specialised recruitment and assessment organisation of DRDO responsible for the selection and career management of scientific personnel.

RAC plays an important role in recruiting scientists and engineers for DRDO and associated organisations, including the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).

The Chairperson will provide senior-level leadership in formulating recruitment and assessment policies and ensuring that the selection of scientific personnel is conducted with objectivity, integrity and confidentiality.

Eligibility Criteria

The position is intended for eminent senior-level professionals with extensive experience in scientific, technological, academic or administrative leadership.

Eligible candidates may include:

  • Retired Scientists
  • Serving Scientists
  • Technologists
  • Eminent Academicians
  • Civil Servants
  • Other distinguished professionals meeting the prescribed seniority and experience requirements

Candidates should have held a position equivalent to the level of:

Secretary to the Government of India

corresponding to Pay Level 17 under the 7th Central Pay Commission.


Job Responsibilities

The Chairperson will have a strategic leadership role in the functioning of RAC.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Formulating recruitment policies for DRDO scientists.
  • Developing assessment policies for scientific personnel.
  • Providing strategic guidance to RAC.
  • Overseeing recruitment and assessment activities.
  • Ensuring objectivity and fairness in selection.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality in recruitment and assessment processes.
  • Providing leadership for recruitment activities related to DRDO and ADA scientists.
  • Advising the organisation on scientific manpower and assessment matters.

Tenure / Duration

The appointment will be for:

3 Years

OR

until the appointee reaches the age of:

65 Years

whichever is earlier.

The appointment is on a re-employment/contract basis and does not constitute regular permanent employment.


Pay & Benefits

The Chairperson will receive:

Fixed Pay: ₹2,25,000 per month

The appointment will carry the applicable benefits/entitlements according to Government rules.

Selection Process

The selection will not be through a conventional written examination.

The appointment will be made through a:

Search-cum-Selection Committee

The committee will be constituted by the Government of India.

The selection process will be carried out in accordance with applicable Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) instructions and will be subject to approval of the:

Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC)

The Search-cum-Selection Committee may also consider suitable candidates outside the pool of applications received, if considered appropriate.
